Dr Lori. That was the name that I chose to call her by as she was a General Practitioner in the heart of the metro area that traveled back and forth to and from her mountain hideaway. Dr Lori raised her sons and they were now in college on their way out into the world and she was eager to find herself again and she wanted a companion. Currently, Max the gigantic Alaskan Husky was the main male in her life and she had just stepped out of a relationship with a local guy. The Good Doctor was a farm girl from the other side of the state and her parents still maintained the family homestead. She spoke often of the rural life and the work, animals open space and a different kind of life than the one she was living. We clicked right away with conversations about small things that evolved into discussions about really big things. There was a comfort level from the beginning that allowed an escape on the first meeting up a mountain trail that ended with a spectacular view of the city. It was not a walk in the park kind of hike and the return trip down the mountain required more than the scenic stroll revolving upward to the top. Max was a beautiful animal that sensed almost everything and was just as easy to communicate with and become friends with as Dr. Lori. Her stories were endless and it was obvious early on that she was a compassionate person and a true country doctor working in the crowded and congested inner city. Her heart poured out for every individual or animal that suffered or struggled in any way and she listened intently to my life stories that she pulled out of me. It was on and it was hot. It was true and it was pure. It was non stop until the very last moment when reality sunk in and life made a strong calling for her return. Family and work had been a mainstay in her life other than failed relationships and it seemed the fear of another failure cause her to regroup her priorities. There were legitimate concerns about a long term future and I was about experience a change that I never saw coming and it demanded all of my attention. I could not just drop everything and head for the hills for weekends and week days as We often did. The long night walks and early morning treks with Max had to be put on hold. Suspended.

Evergreen Colorado is a small mountain community spread across several mountains and valleys not far from Denver. The interstate to the ski slopes blasts right past the couple exits and the natives don't mind at all if you just keep on going. The dirt roads that take you to and beyond the wide variety of custom homes none of which are alike. Old Hippies and rich executives have all staked their claims and made their mark with unique multi leveled glassed castles and acreage for days. Log cabins and trailers dot the landscape along the creeks and the fabulous views. Nice place to live and walk among nature and at that time it was almost an exclusive little country club so I never got to comfortable. Dr. Lori was many things to many people and she did every thing very well. She was an academic and a lover of people. She was a farmer a doctor, a mother and a single Woman, humble, kind and unforgettable.

It is here where my heart resides and where my mind rests. It is here where you will find The Sages that taught me well and when I was ready they sent me out into the world, on this Earth, in this Universe, to do what I was called to do.
