Rayford Hobbs Vignettes

A vignette is a French loanword expressing a short and descriptive piece of writing that captures a brief period in time. Vignettes are more focused on vivid imagery and meaning rather than plot.

It is here where my heart resides and where my mind rests. It is here where you will find The Sages that taught me well and when I was ready they sent me out into the world, on this Earth, in this Universe, to do what I was called to do.

What is an example of a vignette? These two examples—the natural history museum diorama, the Belafonte sequence—show us a lot about what a vignette is and its purpose in storytelling. In literary terms, a vignette is a short, descriptive passage that captures a moment in time.
